Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect
We collect the information you give us and a limited amount of technical data when you use Jobbie on the web or in our mobile app:
- Account information — your name, email address, and password (or your Apple/Google sign-in identity if you use social sign-in).
- Profile and application information — phone number, mailing address, date of birth, and (optionally) demographic and work-eligibility details that job applications commonly request, such as gender, race/ethnicity, veteran and disability status, visa/sponsorship needs, and security-clearance level. These optional fields are provided by you to auto-answer screening questions.
- Resume and documents — the resume(s) and related files you upload, plus LinkedIn/portfolio links and job preferences (titles, locations, salary, employment type).
- Application email — we assign your account a private Jobbie application address that we use to send applications and receive application-related messages (such as verification codes and recruiter replies), which we forward to your registered email. Optionally, you can instead connect your own email account (such as Gmail); if you do, you provide an app password that we use to read your inbox (read-only, via IMAP) solely to retrieve job-application verification codes. You can disconnect at any time.
- Payment information — handled by our payment processors (Stripe on the web, Apple for in-app purchases on iOS). We do not store your full card number.
- Automatically collected — device information, a push-notification token (if you enable notifications), and usage and log data. On the web we also use cookies (see the Cookies section below).
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide and operate our automated job-application services
- Submit applications to job boards and employers on your behalf, including auto-completing screening questions and generating cover letters and tailored resumes
- Match you with relevant roles based on your preferences
- Send you updates about your applications and service notifications
- Process subscriptions and purchases, and provide customer support
- Maintain security, prevent fraud and abuse, and comply with our legal obligations
- Analyze usage to improve the service
3. How We Share Information
We share your information only as needed to run the service, and we do not sell your personal information:
- Job boards and employers — when you (manually or via Autopilot) authorize an application, we submit the relevant profile information to the third-party job board or applicant tracking system (such as Greenhouse, Lever, or Workday) and the employer.
- Service providers — vendors who help us operate, including cloud hosting and storage, our AI provider (to generate cover letters, tailored resumes, and screening answers), payment processors (Stripe, Apple), email delivery, and security/anti-bot services. They may process your data only on our behalf.
- Legal — when required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of Jobbie and its users.
4. AI Processing
To generate cover letters, tailored resumes, and answers to application screening questions, we send the relevant parts of your profile to our AI provider. AI-generated content is grounded in the information you provide and is produced for your use; you remain responsible for reviewing applications submitted on your behalf. We do not use your personal information to train third-party advertising models.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
We keep your information while your account is active. You can permanently delete your account at any time — in the mobile app via Settings → Delete Account, or on the web in your account settings. Deleting your account removes your profile, resume(s), saved jobs, application history, and preferences, disconnects any connected email, and cancels your subscription. We may retain a limited amount of information where required to comply with legal, tax, or security obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements; when information is no longer needed, we delete it or anonymize it.
6. Your Rights and Choices
You can:
- Access and correct your information in your profile and account settings
- Delete your account and associated data at any time (see the section above)
- Disconnect a connected email account at any time from Settings
- Turn push notifications on or off, and opt out of marketing and job-digest emails in Settings
- Manage or cancel your subscription — on iOS through your Apple ID subscription settings, or on the web in billing settings
7. Data Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and secure storage of credentials. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Cookies, Analytics, and Tracking
On the web we use cookies and similar technologies for sign-in, analytics, and to improve the experience; you can manage these through your browser settings. Our mobile app does not include advertising or cross-app tracking SDKs and does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
9. Children’s Privacy
Jobbie is intended for adults in the workforce and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Data Controller
Jobbie is the data controller responsible for the personal information described in this policy. If you are located in the United Kingdom (UK) or the European Economic Area (EEA) and have questions about how we handle your data, or wish to exercise any of your rights, you can reach us at hello@jobbie.bot.
11. Lawful Bases for Processing (UK and EU GDPR)
If you are in the UK or the EEA, we only process your personal information where we have a lawful basis to do so under the UK GDPR and the EU General Data Protection Regulation. Depending on the activity, we rely on one or more of the following:
- Consent — for example, when you agree to receive marketing communications or authorize us to apply to jobs on your behalf. You can withdraw your consent at any time.
- Performance of a contract — to provide the services you sign up for, including matching you with roles and submitting applications on your behalf.
- Legitimate interests — to operate, secure, and improve our service, prevent fraud and abuse, and understand how our service is used, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights and freedoms.
12. Your Rights Under the GDPR and UK GDPR
If you are located in the UK or the EEA, you have the following rights over your personal information:
- Access — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Rectification — ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Erasure — ask us to delete your personal information (the right to be forgotten).
- Restriction — ask us to limit how we process your information.
- Portability — receive your information in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format, or have it transferred to another provider.
- Objection — object to processing based on our legitimate interests, and to direct marketing at any time.
- Withdraw consent — where we rely on your consent, withdraw it at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before you withdrew it.
13. Right to Lodge a Complaint
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. In the United Kingdom, this is the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). If you are in the EU, you can contact your local EU Data Protection Authority (DPA). We would appreciate the chance to address your concerns first, so please consider contacting us at hello@jobbie.bot before you do.
14. International Data Transfers
Jobbie is operated from the United States, and your personal information is processed and stored on servers located in the United States and by service providers that may be located outside your home country. When we transfer personal information out of the UK or the EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards — such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK equivalent — to ensure your information receives an adequate level of protection.
15. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page.
16. Contact Us
